Myofascial Release Therapy
Myofascial release is a type of bodywork, which treats the fascial system of the body. The fascial system surrounds and has the potential to influence every muscle, bone, nerve, blood vessel, organ and cell of the body. With gentle sometimes deep, sustained contact it eliminates the pressure of the restricted fascial areas that are causing the symptoms. Pressure is sustained for 1 minute to 5 minutes and sometimes even longer depending on how restricted the area may be. There is no use of creams or oils.
Neuromuscular Massage Therapy & Trigger Point Therapy
Trigger points are stiff or taut areas in your fascial tissue which can restrict your muscle and joint movement. You may have pain at the site of a trigger point or widespread pain throughout the body. Trigger point therapy is sustained pressure to these areas for 1 minute to 5 minute holds, which releases tension and facilitates blood flow. Trigger points are found by understanding the pain patterns of the client.
Structural Bodywork
If your body is structurally out of balance, it will function inefficiently, causing compression in places like nerves and wear and tear of the joints, which can ultimately lead to pain. If the functional unit of your pelvis is twisted or unstable, all that lies above it or below it will be adversely affected over time. Balancing the pelvis is key to structural bodywork to create a strong foundation for the body. While it is important to treat symptoms to make you more comfortable, it is imperative to begin work on balancing the foundation of the structure as soon as possible. Through techniques such as myofascial release therapy, neuromuscular therapy and trigger point therapy this will be achieved.
Exercise Suggestions and Programs
Strength, Mobility and Stability are the keys to making medical/rehabilitative massage therapy last. We write an individualized corrective exercise program for clients consisting of strength, mobility and stability exercises that they can do in their home, outside or at their gym.
